Drivers were urged to avoid the A511 Stephenson Way on the approach into Coalville on Monday morning (June 10) following a crash. The main route was closed off for several hours in the wake of the incident.

The exact circ*mstances surrounding the collision were initially unclear, but it has happened at the junction with Telford Way. Fire crews and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

The collision caused long queues on the approach to the A511 Stephenson Way and surrounding roads. Drivers were being guided away from the area for some time.

The A511 Stephenson Way remains closed in the wake of this morning's earlier collision. The majority of the traffic that was caught up in queues has now been cleared.

However, some vehicles, notably larger lorries, remain within the closed section of the A511. Police are still urging drivers to avoid the area.
