Blake is an extremely gifted, passionate, and articulate young man! He was accepted into the very competitive engineering programs at the University of Pittsburgh, Drexel, Temple, and Penn State. He plans on studying mechanical engineering at Penn State’s main campus in the fall. Alongside the generous Rotary Club scholarship, last week Blake discovered that he had won the Clark Scholars Award. Combined, they will cover the full cost of his tuition, dorm, food, and books for all four years. That is amazing!Without question, Blake is a leader! He has been our chapel tech team leader, yearbook editor, hockey captain, and, as a leader in our student government, has organized one event after the next. Blake's hockey team christened him “the Energizer Bunny” and it is true.Blake, you are a force to be reckoned with and your absence is going to leave a palpable hole at Logos Academy; but we are so proud of you! Your faith, strong work ethic, passion, creativity, and positive attitude are going to take you so far! We can’t wait to see all the things you will invent!

From the moment you meet Olivia, you will be struck by a young woman who is both humble and inspiring. Olivia was accepted into Elizabethtown, Messiah, Ursinus, Franklin & Marshall, Moravian, and Villanova. She holds the Logos Academy record for highest SAT score in our history, scoring a 1480 as a junior. After lengthy interview processes, Olivia was accepted into two different college honors programs, winning the coveted full ride Trustees Scholarship and the Excelsior Merit Scholarship. Though she won full rides at both of her top choice schools, Olivia has decided to attend Elizabethtown College in the fall, where she wants to major in International Business and minor in Japanese with a concentration in finance. In the future, she hopes to travel and learn as many languages as possible. In her own words: “There is incredible value to be found in studying history and culture. By doing so, we can learn from each other and from the past, in order to form a better present. I have been studying Japanese for four years now, and it has become one of my greatest joys. This passion of mine has inspired me to take on a career in which I can use my language skills to serve the global community.”Olivia, in so many ways, your love for God, for people in other cultures, for creation, and for learning exemplify the hopes and dreams we have for all our graduates. Anata to hanarete sabishiku narimasu. We will miss you.

In the history of Logos Academy, it is hard to imagine a more decorated student than Andrew. He has led our student government, won Project Week, has a 4.0, and has earned Distinguished Honor Roll every single quarter of his high school career. At the beginning of this year, Drew threw himself into pursuing his dream of attending the United States Air Force Academy. I honestly have never met any eighteen year old more qualified. Drew is a critical thinker, a servant leader, an incredible athlete, Cadet Commander of his local Civil Air Patrol, a hard worker, and most of all a man of character. However, after all that work, midway through the year it became clear that a previous neck injury was going to prevent Drew’s long held dream from becoming a reality. When the things we love most are taken away from us, our true character is revealed. In faith, Drew accepted that God had shut one door and must be calling him to walk through a different one. Fully accepting that God wants his best, Drew threw himself into Plan B with the same energy, hope, and joy characteristic of him.Drew was accepted into Liberty University, Taylor, Messiah, Susquehanna, Cairn, Elizabethtown, Ursinus, Walsh, University of Massachusetts, West Virginia State, Arcadia, Champlain, Dickinson, Alleghany, Hartwick, and Florida Institute of Technology. In the fall, he plans to study cybersecurity at Messiah University where he was accepted into their honors program and earned over the full cost of tuition in scholarships. Drew, thank you for the example of faith and perseverance you have been to us all! We are so proud of you!

Armani was accepted into Albright, Messiah, York, and Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. Armani’s impressive scholarship list include: the Flowers Multicultural Scholarship, Dean’s Scholarship, Provost Scholarship, and several others adding up to $46,118 per year, a full ride to Messiah University, where he plans to study computer programming. Some of Armani’s favorite Logos Academy memories include robotics team, Project Week, participating in Poetry Out Loud, volunteering during Staff Day Apart, and his paid internship with the Codorus Creek Summer Enrichment Program. In Armani’s own words: “I started at Logos Academy in second grade. Going to a faith based school taught me many things about God and his Word. The life and teachings of Jesus have inspired me to live a life of faith. I have had many teachers who cared about me as a whole person: my mind, but also my soul, emotions, and character. I want to become a computer programmer in the future. I want to be good at my job, but I also want to be a man of virtue.”Armani, we are so proud of the man you have become. You are a man of character and a loyal friend. You have a great sense of humor and your positive attitude is contagious! You have been a blessing to our school and we can’t wait to see where God takes you from here.

Mya is the kind of student who reminds you why you teach. She is one of the most generous, humble, and loving people that you will ever meet. By her teachers, she will forever be remembered as the student who asks the most questions. But unlike some, that is not to waste time, but just genuinely because she loves to learn. Perhaps that is why she possesses a wisdom far beyond her years. As is demonstrated by her senior thesis, Mya is courageous and not afraid to tackle tough topics. Mya was accepted into Wheaton, Geneva, Messiah, Texas Christian, Liberty, and Baylor University. Besides the generous Her Traditions Bank Scholarship, after many essays and an interview, Mya was also awarded the York Hispanic Coalition Scholarship. Mya is still deciding between Messiah (where she is just shy of having the full cost of tuition, room, and board covered) and Liberty (where she has the full cost of tuition covered). With over 600 hours of community service in high school, Mya has already been pouring out her life in love and service to others. In her own words: “In the future, I want to be a nurse and help those in need and those that are less fortunate than me. I want to get my degree, possibly become a nurse practitioner, and go overseas and do medical missions.”Mya, your compassion for others, your sincerity, and your gentle spirit have been a blessing to us all. We have no doubt that you will go on to bring wholeness and healing to many others. We are really going to miss you!

Amelia was accepted into nursing programs at Penn State University, Messiah, Liberty, Houghton, York, Baylor, and the University of Pittsburgh. Amelia plans to attend Messiah University in the fall, where she has won nearly $40,000 in scholarships. Amelia has served in student government, mentored younger students in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program, been a captain on sports teams, has led us in chapel, has a 4.0, and is a leader in and out of the classroom. In her own words: "Attending Logos Academy, a diverse, private school in the heart of my city, has been one of the most foundational experiences of my life. My eyes were opened to different circ*mstances, cultures, and ways of life. Living in York City and attending Logos Academy helped me to develop empathy and taught me that I care deeply about others' lives, specifically those of children. I have decided that wherever I go, it is part of my life's work to make the children I meet feel seen, heard, and loved. Lady Bird Johnson, former first lady of the United States, once said, ‘Children are likely to live up to what you believe of them.’ I want to become a pediatric nurse. I want to support children and families in their moments of need because often the lowest, most vulnerable points in a person’s life are also the most transformational. I want to bring hope, especially to children in underserved communities and dire situations, because they are our hope for a better tomorrow.”Amelia, at Logos Academy, you will always be remembered for your big heart, your love and compassion, and your ability to make everyone you meet feel valued and heard.

Pamela was accepted into Millersville University, Messiah, Gordon, Campbell, IUP, Indiana University of Indianapolis, St. John's University, and Stevenson. She has received over the full cost of tuition in scholarships to IUP, and will make her final decision by June 1st. She plans on majoring in Biology in college, then attending medical school, with the dream of one day becoming a surgeon. Pamela, like many of our seniors, is a first generation college student. In her own words: “Both of my parents came to this country with literally nothing and spent the first decade working in factories just to put food on the table. My parents’ sacrifice and determination has shielded me from much of the adversity, poverty, and pain that is a part of many immigrants’ experiences. I have attended one of the best schools in my city and had a loving community surrounding me.” Pamela, you and your family have been a tremendous blessing to this school and a gift to our community. It only takes a couple minutes of talking to Pamela to realize that she is just a cool person - compassionate, fun, and remarkably insightful for her age. Thank you for your moving senior thesis, for sharing your musical gifts with us, and for your servant leadership in our school. We are really going to miss you, Pamela!
