As players travel through the vast world of Skyrim, they can find dozens of different materials. You will need most of them to enhance equipment or craft weapons. However, when you want to craft crossbow bolts or arrows, you will have to learn how to get Firewood.

Firewood is essentially a chopped piece of a log. And, of course, sometimes you can find them just lying on the ground. However, this is far from the best way to fill your pockets with this material. Luckily, there are other methods available.

How to Get Firewood in Skyrim

As stated, you can sometimes find ready-made Firewood. For example, you will collect more than 20 by visiting Highpoint Tower. However, this is not enough to craft weapons or upgrade equipment. Therefore, to get regular amounts of Firewood in Skyrim, you must pick up a Woodcutter’s Axe and start chopping logs at Wood Chopping Blocks.

To do this, you just need to approach and interact with the chopping block. If you have the necessary Axe in your inventory, the character will automatically start chopping wood. For each hit, you will receive two Firewood.

But be careful, because if you get carried away with this activity, you will quickly exceed the maximum weight capacity. To avoid this, we recommend asking your companion for help. Give them the Woodcutter's Axe and command them to chop the logs until you have collected as many as you need.

Where to Find a Woodcutter's Axe in Skyrim

The Woodcutter's Axe is the key tool for getting Firewood in Skyrim. But you don't have to worry about finding it since, in most cases, this Axe is usually somewhere near Wood Chopping Blocks. It can also be purchased from some merchants, such as Hulda or Gilfre.

Alternatively, players can use the Poacher's Axe, which is a unique version of Woodcutter's Axe. Its main difference is the bonus damage to animals it provides. To get it, you have to fight bandits in Halted Stream Camp.
