David Howard Sail Maker. Marshfield MA Worked both full and part time building and designing sails for small to medium size craft. Most significantly, over a ten year period David mentor me in design of sails fundamentally as well as specific enough to meet the modern temperament of sailors, conditions rigs and the sundried variables requiring a careful balance when divining sail shape and consequent adaptability.

Doyle Sail Makers, Marblehead MA Although I also worked for Doyle Sail Makers very long ago, it was not insignificant or an invaluable experience. I was a novice yet valued member of their sail making team. Although Doyle s method was very modular, I Fortunately worked in secondary layout where the view and experience was far less narrow in its Scope I eventually learned a lot about proper sizing of hd’sl and mainsail luff curves as well as cutbacks, and even broad seaming.

Boston Boat works, East Boston, MA, Custom Building of high tech multimillion dollar racing sailboats, worked with very low tolerances and exotic materials. Built male and female molds for subsequent production of Taylor 40s’. Also, repaired and maintained a variety of sail and power boats.

Van, (Eastern Turkey): Created grass roots English language school for Kurdish community center and Van municipal tax office. Did this while simultaneously working under purview ( as a contractor) of the U.S. State Department Liaison Office, Ankara. My agenda was to contribute conclusive and "unofficial” reports on Kurdish capacity, desire, and need for cultural exchange/assimilation with Turkish. Worked directly and openly on this with our students with the hope to reconcile differences between the two ethnicities

Work at sea, Salvage delivering and towing.

Salvage and towing
Spent 4 separate four-six month periods developing a working relationship with various contractors in the Eastern Mediterranean, Primarily independent Greek Contractor Harlambos Xenios, as a crew/skipper, delivering and towing classic wooden Gulets from turkey to the Turkish Republic of northern Cyprus. Gulet was essentially a Turkish Schooner, beautiful, yet old, and barely seaworthy. We usually had to reinforce week spots in the Gulets. set up generators and pumps then use one or two open steel workboats to tow, motor, even sail or just drag a sinking yacht across the sea .Also during this time I worked on deliveries of wooden and fiberglass cruisers from both Marmaris and Antalya to Turkish Cyprus, Cyprus, Syria and Israel,
