There are plenty of factions to get involved with in The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), from the warriors of the Fighters Guild to the mystics of the Mages Guild. Each faction features its own set of quests, characters and skill line that help to open up the world of Tamriel even more.

For the less honest players, there's also the Thieves Guild. As expected, many of the interactions with the Thieves Guild in ESO revolves around theft and criminal pursuits. But with Tamriel's Justice system in full force, players need to be prepared to take certain risks when it comes to joining up with the Thieves Guild.

How To Join The Thieves Guild In ESO

There are a few important steps to take when looking to join the Thieves Guild in Elder Scrolls Online. First, despite being a regular addition across Elder Scrolls titles, the Thieves Guild isn't part of the base game of ESO. While both the Fighters Guild and Mages Guild can be joined regardless of which edition of ESO you own, the Thieves Guild can only be joined by those who own the Thieves Guild DLC.

This can be bought as a separate add-on via the ESO Crown Store. Alternatively, players who subscribe to ESO Plus receive access to all previous Chapters and DLC (with the exception of Necrom).

Once you've gained access the the Thieves Guild DLC, there are a few ways to start the Thieves Guild questline. The easiest is to open your in-game Collections tab and head to DLC. From their, select Thieves Guild DLC and accept the“Partners in Crime” quest. Alternatively, you can talk to Quen inside any Outlaws Refuge. Entrances to an Outlaws Refuge can be found in any major city across Tamriel.

All Thieves Guild Quests In ESO

There are a variety of quests to undertake as part of the Thieves Guild DLC. These include primary quests, and additional side quests that usually involve helping a related character. Below, we've listed all of the related quests as listed by UESP.net:

Players can also complete a variety of Larceny Quests, not too dissimilar to certain quests given as part of the Thieves Guild in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. These Larceny Quests are separated into three categories:

  • Rye's Reacquisitions

Thieves Guild Skill Line ESO: All Perks & Skills

The Thieves Guild skill line is a strange one, in that is consists of Passive skills. Each one is intended to improve the success rate, or your overall ability, to pull off criminal acts. Below, we'll list each of the unloackable skills, their effects, and their Line Rank:

  • Finder's Keepers:
    - (1) Unlocked upon opening Thieves Troves.
  • Swiftly Forgotten:
    - (2) Bounty is decreased by46after3minutes. Heat is decreased by36after3seconds.
    - (5) Bounty is decreased by69after3minutes. Heat is decreased by46after3seconds.
    - (8) Bounty is decreased by92after3minutes. Heat is decreased by55after3seconds.
    - (11) Bounty is decreased by115after3minutes. Heat is decreased by64after3seconds.
  • Haggling:
    - (3) Stolen items sold at a fence are worth2% more. Does not apply to Laundering.
    - (6) Stolen items sold at a fence are worth4% more. Does not apply to Laundering.
    - (9) Stolen items sold at a fence are worth7% more. Does not apply to Laundering.
    - (12) Stolen items sold at a fence are worth10% more. Does not apply to Laundering.
  • Clemency:
    - (4) When a guard accosts you, you may use Clemency once per day. If used, the Guard will not arrest you or take your money and stolen goods. Additionally, Guards will not attempt to accost you for1minute after you use Clemency unless you commit other crimes.
  • Timely Escape:
    - (7) When you have Bounty and are in combat, you have a chance to spot a "Footpad" in a town with a Refuge. Interacting with the Footpad will transport the player safely into the nearest Refuge.
  • Veil of Shadows:
    - (10) Decreases detection range of Witnesses and Guards by10%. Witnesses and Guards are thus less likely to notice criminal actions, though this has no impact on the range from which Guards will accost you.

How To Build Thieves Guild Reputation In ESO

Like all guilds in ESO, the Thieves Guild has a reputation system used in order to move up the reputation ranks and unlock more skills. There are 12 ranks to move through, each requiring a certain amount of reputation to progress.

There are a few ways to build reputation with the Thieves Guild. The easiest is by completing Thieves Guild quests and jobs, most of which will earn between 5 - 10 reputation points. Heists completed within the optional time limit can reward up to 20 points.
