"Is it worth applying for a vacancy which has had 100+ applicants already?Definitely YES.But, do it properly. If an employer is receiving over 100+ applications (and that's quite normal) they will most likely be using an automation tool to scan keywords, skills or experience. So, take the time to read the job advert thoroughly. Note down the keywords, key(s) to the hire, specific experience or qualifications which are 'non-negotiable' then start preparing your application.Applying (properly) for a new job takes time. It is not a case of clicking then attaching your CV. Those people who do that are probably the ones who say they have applied for 50 jobs this week and had no response.I should know, as I receive sometimes dozens of CVs every day BUT I have no problem quickly splitting the treasure from the tripe! If a job is worth applying for, please apply for it properly, so that you give yourself the best chance of getting an interview, and being on your way to securing a new job.Good luck everyone. You can check out the Faltec Europe Ltd current vacancies at https://lnkd.in/gvc97AH

I was struggling with myself as to whether I comment on this or not - the Presidential Debate from Atlanta on the 27 June which, for me, was difficult to watch. Donald Trump (DT) easily won the debate against Joe Biden (JB). A newspaper printed that JB "looked like a burns victim" "he couldn't walk" "he couldn't answer questions." Following the debate, The Guardian newspaper published that "a majority of voters want Joe Biden to stand down following his dismal debate performance." Their poll indicated that 60% of respondents (both Republican and Democrat) said that JB should be replaced as the nominee to be the next President. 11% said they were unsure. Here's my point. The debate was initiated by JB's team, yet JB not able to deliver a credible performance. His mistakes include "century" not "decade"; "15,000" not "15,000,000"; "a thousand trillionaires - I mean billionaires"; he struggled with numbers, there were long pauses, he trails off, he screws up his face as if his brain is about to burst which the TV camera zoomed in on. JB appeared not to have the capacity to rebut the brutal statements made by DT against him.I felt the debate was cruel; it was hard to watch an 81 year old disintegrate in front of my eyes; and at one point, JB seemed on the verge of having a medical incident as you could see the stress and confusion build up.SO, WHY DID JB's ADVISERS PUSH FORWARD WITH THIS DEBATE? With the cards stacked against you, why take the risk of everything coming tumbling down during a 90 minute grilling with no break- especially, as they said that JB was not feeling 100%.UNLESS of course, that was the outcome they wanted, ready for Gavin Newsom or someone else to step in. It's makes you think....! Politics is a tricky and harsh business.

I've been working on increasing my average weekly impressions (which usually run at up to 50,000 per week) to 100,000 per week. Yes, that's 5M per year!I've had the occasional 100,000 impressions week, and last week was one of them.I find LinkedIn is by far the best platform for building a personal brand, and as apparently only 5% of LinkedIn members actually post anything, there is plenty of opportunity to get noticed. I've also hired quite a few colleagues into Faltec Europe Ltd as a direct result of getting noticed. The ROI against the cost of my premium subscription is massive. No paid advertising required, just establish a no-nonsense, credible brand which people want to follow, and attracts manufacturing and engineering people (or whatever sector you work in). Here are 4 LinkedIn tips which I stand by:1. Take time to plan and structure your post. Don't just fire something off without thinking about the impression you want to give, the message you want to send, the words you will use, the post spacing, the graphic, the people you will tag, the hashtags you will use etc. This is all important to get the best result.2. Only tag people who are likely to engage with the post. The LinkedIn algorithm will treat your post as SPAM and relegate it if no-one tagged actually engages with it. So there is no point tagging Richard Branson or Peter Jones (of Dragons Den) if you don't know them. 3. Review others' posts, like and comment. Build relationships by engaging with other like-minded people. Don't just like their post, but comment and share as well so they know you are interested in what they are doing, and are making the effort to support them. 4. Post content consistently (very important). Even if that is once a day or twice a week or whatever, YOU MUST BE CONSISTENT. LinkedIn will reward you for this by putting your post in front of more people. As with everything in life, you only get out what you put in, so you MUST MAKE THE EFFORT and be intentional in your LinkedIn activity, if you want to build a presence which delivers value. What tips or tricks are working for you? Please share by replying in the comments section.
