Removing third-party cookie tracking on Chrome is a massive shift for the marketing and advertising industry. So many tracking points happen via third-party cookies. If you are currently working with a marketing or advertising agency and they haven't started to plan for this - it may be time for a shift.Building an audience with first-party data and using better data tracking tools is going to be a great first step in the right direction. Having your data tracking set up in advance of a deadline is also going to help you roll with the punches here. Want to know one great way to build an audience? Email marketing. Yes I said it and it's still true today. Subscribers that double opt-in are going to be so much more interested in hearing from your brand and interacting with you vs getting a random ad. I currently rank #1 on Google for 37 search terms. I deliberately caused myself to reduce that by 20 from 57. Why? 1. 42/57 of those search terms have nothing to do with my business 2. Seven of them refer to things I wrote years ago that aren't relevant now 3. While my websites do great traffic, none of it is looking for what I do 4. Traffic to irrelevant stuff means Google has a warped idea of what I do If you're not being found for what you do, that's one thing. If you're being found for the wrong thing, you need to take action. Don't be afraid to delete that milkshake if it's bringing all the wrong boys to your yard.
